Situated at Britannia Beach on the shore of Howe Sound, South Britannia occupies one of the most dramatic natural settings in British Columbia. Forty five minutes north of Vancouver, twenty minutes south of Squamish, and an hour from Whistler.
South Britannia will include a walkable neighbourhood of 900 market and 150 non-market affordable housing units anchored by a world class surf-park, with a variety of housing opportunities, including rental and affordable housing, tourist accommodation, neighbourhood retail and public amenities, including parks and trails for all to enjoy. This development will also facilitate safe public access to Minaty Bay. Recreational and outdoor sports amenities, both built and natural, will inform the culture of the place, attracting residents and visitors alike to stay, work, and play in South Britannia.
The idea behind South Britannia is simple: build a community around something truly extraordinary. At its heart is Canada's first full-sized surf park, a Wavegarden Cove facility that makes world-class surfing a part of everyday life in the Sea to Sky Corridor.
This isn't just a sports facility; it's the foundation upon which an entire neighbourhood has been imagined.
The Corridor has long been home to people who live for the outdoors, and South Britannia honours that spirit by adding something the region has never had before, consistent, accessible surf, right in your backyard.
Wavegarden Cove technology was designed with every surfer in mind, from the first-timer finding their footing to the seasoned pro chasing performance waves. Unlike the ocean, where conditions can be unpredictable and intimidating, the surf park creates a controlled, safe environment where progression happens naturally and at your own pace.

The main building at South Britannia Surf is conceived as the architectural heart of the community, a place where design, culture, and coastal energy converge.
Inspired by the natural rhythms of the West Coast, the structure blends warm wood, expansive glazing, and flowing forms to create a seamless connection between land, water, and sky.
Inside, the building is designed to support every aspect of the surf experience. A welcoming reception anchors the arrival, while a cafe and restaurant offer spaces to gather, refuel, and take in views of the waves. A curated retail surf shop and a fully integrated surf academy create a hub for both newcomers and seasoned surfers, fostering a strong sense of community and progression around the sport.
More than just a facility, this building represents a commitment to thoughtful, enduring design. Every detail from material selection to spatial flow has been carefully considered to reflect the character of the West Coast while delivering a world-class destination.
Phase one will establish South Britannia as a coastal destination.
